Boston Orientation

Boston Orientation is mandatory for students and optional for families. Experience the Boston campus. Meet new students and families, connect with essential resources, and explore campus and Boston.

Registration opens in mid-April

Enrolled students will register themselves and up to 2 guests.

College-specific dates will be posted in the student’s Application Status Check no earlier than mid-April.

Travel cannot be arranged until the student is registered for a session.

Parking, meals, and social activities are complimentary at no cost for both the student and up to 2 guests.

Mandatory first-year student housing is included at no additional cost.

Housing and Hotels

First-year students are required to stay overnight in an on-campus residence hall with new classmates.

An Early Arrival option is available for students to stay on campus the night before Orientation (June, July, and early August only).

On-campus accommodations include bed linens, pillow, and towels. Pack essential toiletries, weather appropriate clothing, walking shoes, and athletic wear for evening activities.

On-campus family housing is not available. Please see our list of area hotels. Please note: Boston Stadium will host seven matches from the FIFA World Cup 2026™ from June 13 – July 9, 2026. Hotel availability during these dates will be extremely limited. Boston Orientation family presentations will be recorded and emailed to all newly enrolled families by July 31, 2026, for those who wish to view remotely.

First-Year Students

2-day program with several college-specific dates to choose from starting in late June through late August.

Transfer Students

Transfer students will attend a 1-day Orientation program, after they have moved into their fall residence and before classes begin.

Global Program Students

Global Program students include those who attended Northeastern University Oakland or Northeastern University’s London Scholars or New York City Scholars program for their first year.

Abroad Students

Students who live abroad will attend a late-summer session after fall move-in. This option is only available to those who reside outside of the United States.

Family Orientation

Family Orientation runs concurrent with the student program.
